Google Trends has released its annual Year in Search report for 2023, which lists the top trending searches in different countries.
For the Year in Search 2023, Google's list of most searched songs globally included two Original Pinoy Music (OPM) hits.
"ERE" and "Pasilyo" enter Google's Year in Search 2023 Top Songs
Juan Karlos' hit single "ERE" has made it to the top 6 on the trends list, while SunKissed Lola's 2022-released track "Pasilyo" has secured a spot on the top 9.
Born in 2001, Filipino singer Juan Karlos Labajo, often referred to as "JK," captured hearts with his soulful voice on The Voice Kids Philippines. Despite finishing as a runner-up, he rose to stardom, releasing hit singles like "Buwan." Labajo isn't just a singer; he's also a songwriter, musician, and actor, showcasing his talents on TV shows and in films. As an actor, he had supporting roles in the ABS-CBN television series Hawak-Kamay, Pangako Sa 'Yo, and A Love to Last.
SunKissed Lola is a Filipino rock band formed in Olongapo, Zambales, in 2021. The group consists of Dan Ombao (lead vocals, guitar), Alvin Serito (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Laura Lacbain (lead vocals), Danj Quimson (bass guitar), Genson Viloria (drums), and Rodnie Resos (keyboards). The band gained prominence with the success of their single "Pasilyo" (Aisle), breaking records in Spotify Philippines and Billboard Philippines Songs as one of the most successful OPM songs in the streaming era. Prior to forming SunKissed Lola, Laura Lacbain, Danj Quimson, and Genson Viloria were already bandmates in Dr. Pocket from 2018-2021. The band derived its name from a translation of the Tagalog phrase "naaninagan ng kalungkutan," combining the English word "sunkissed" and the Spanish nickname "Lola" (meaning "sorrow").
Going back to Google's Year in Search 2023 Top Songs, the list was led by Japanese duo Yoasobi's "Idol," followed by Jason Aldean's "Try That In A Small Town" and Shakira and Bizarrap's "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53."
The rest in the charts are Sam Smith and Kim Petras's "Unholy" (top 4), FIFTY FIFTY's "Cupid" (top 5), SZA's "Kill Bill" (top 7), Oliver Anthony's "Rich Men North of Richmond" (top 8), and Jungkook's "Seven" (top 10).

According to Google Trends, the lists were based on search terms that had the highest spike in queries in 2023 compared to 2022.
To recall, Halalan and All of Us Are Dead were among the top searches in the Philippines in 2022.
