Garena revealed a roadmap for the Free Fire World Series 2024, which includes a revamped esports system. As part of the new system, all local leagues will now carry the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) branding.
According to Garena, the change is part of Free Fire's efforts to elevate its esports ecosystem by creating standardized tournament branding and promoting a comprehensible identity for its global audience.
Each local FFWS league will also lead to the FFWS Global Finals in November under the new system. The complete 2024 schedule, including the location of the Global Finals and the lineup of international events, will be disclosed in the coming weeks.

New Regional League: FFWS Southeast Asia
Free Fire is launching FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024, a new regional league that will give aspiring pro teams and players a bigger platform to showcase their talents.
The league will be organizing two major tournaments in 2024 - FFWS SEA Spring and FFWS SEA Fall. These regional tournaments will feature a total of 18 teams, with 5 teams each from Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam and 3 teams from Malaysia. The teams will be selected through direct invitations or local qualifiers. Malaysia's slot will consist of 2 directly invited teams and 1 qualifying team from FFWS Malaysia Spring 2024, which was previously known as the (Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Sri Lanka) MCPS Majors.
FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will take place from March 22 to May 26, with a prize pool of USD 300,000. The regional tournament will begin with six weekends of online matches, followed by a Grand Final weekend from May 24 to 26.
FFWS SEA Spring 2024 local qualifiers will take place between January and February. Interested players can register for FFWS Malaysia in late January, and the League Stage will begin in February.
