The Speedtest Global Index report for October 2023 has been released by Ookla, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved six spots up in Fixed Broadband and increased four positions in Mobile.
The country ranked 50th globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 91.08 Mbps. The average upload speed was recorded at 90.47 Mbps, and the average latency was 5 ms.
In the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 82nd, listing an average download speed of 28.28 Mbps. The average upload speed and latency were registered at 6.77 Mbps and 22 ms, respectively.
Compared to the September 2023 charts, the performance of the internet in the country saw a major improvement in both Mobile and Fixed Broadband.
Regarding global median speeds, the average download speed for Fixed Broadband is 87.79 Mbps, while the average for Mobile is 48.47 Mbps.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) achieved the fastest mobile internet worldwide, with an average download speed of 269.41 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore topped the fixed broadband category, recording an average download speed of 264.15 Mbps.
The Speedtest Global Index for October 2023 includes 142 countries for Mobile and 182 for Fixed Broadband.
The Speedtest Global Index, created by analytics firm Ookla, considers the median download speed to provide a more accurate representation of internet speeds that can be achieved in a particular market. For a location to be ranked in either the mobile or fixed broadband category, it must have a minimum of 300 unique user results.
